Statement

I am a long time member of Sigma Xi, and was a recipient of a Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR) grant that played a significant role in financing the fieldwork I undertook as a PhD student. Fundamentally, an organization like Sigma Xi is only as good as the people that are engaged with the Society, so my prime motivation as a member of the Committee on Nominations is to assist in finding motivated members who are willing to make a difference. This involves not only identifying those people who may already be engaged with the Society, but, more importantly, it is looking for others who can bring new ideas and approaches that will help push Sigma Xi forward. It is also critical to diversify the group leading the Society; this needs to be addressed from the broadest of perspectives and I would aim to bring increased diversity to the pool of officers across the various committees that make Sigma Xi run.
