stuart-cooper-240x300Dr. Cooper began his career as an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin where he started a research program with components in polymer chemistry and polymer physics and engineering. In 1993  he joined  the University of Delaware as Dean of Engineering. 

In 1998 he became Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Illinois Institute of Technology, where he made many changes including the initiation of a Biomedical Engineering Department and a Math and Science Teacher Education Department.

In 2001 Dr. Cooper became Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at North Carolina State University. As Provost he teamed up with Provost Robert Shelton at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to create a joint Department of Biomedical Engineering between the two schools.

In 2004 he joined Ohio State University as Chair of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Dr. Cooper received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University.
