American Scientist» Digital Help
The American Scientist digital edition is based on the PDF format and is created by QMags.com. There are two ways to view the digital edition. You may download it to your computer as a PDF file, or you may view it in a Web browser online. Only the former option allows you to place the issue on your computer and view it whether or not you are connected to the Internet.
The downloadable PDF is best viewed using Adobe Acrobat—either the full version or the free Adobe Reader. Mac users, in particular, will find that Preview, the image viewer provided with Mac OS X, does not work well with the digital edition.
As a PDF, the digital edition may be viewed on most tablet computers, although it is seriously compromised on non-color devices such as the original Kindle and Nook, and is cumbersome to read on small smartphone screens.
