SIGMA XI AWARD LECTURE
NANOSCALE ORGANIZATION VIA SELF-ASSEMBLY AND DIRECTED ASSEMBLY
January 22, 2003 at 5:00 PM. 206 Furnas, North Campus
The 2003 Sigma Xi Award lecture for 2002/2003 will be presented by Professor Pascalis Alexandridis of the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Dr. Alexandridis is the 2002 winner of the Young Investigator Award from Sigma Xi. He received this award from the society at the 2002 Annual Meeting held in Galveston in November.

GRADUATE RESEARCH ETHICS COURSE
The course (GSC 640 )taught by Richard Hull and David Triggle will be presented again this semester on Thursdays from 17:00 - 19:00 in 114 Hochstetter ( North Campus ). A two credit course that has been offered for the past ten years it covers: Theories of ethics, animals in research, human medical subject research, human social subject research, fraud and plagiarism, publication practices, student-mentor relationships, intellectual property issues, university-industry relationships, grant applications and funding responsibilities. The course fulfils all Federal requirements for ethics education and training for graduate students. A prominent feature of the course will be student participation through the analysis, presentation and discussion of case studies. The final lecture of the course consists of interaction with the presentations at the Annual Sigma Xi Research Day.

ANNUAL RESEARCH DAY
The Annual Research Day will be held again on Thursday April 24th in the Center for Tomorrow on the North Campus. Further details will be forthcoming. The advisory committee for this event consists of:
