Travel Awards
Funding for students and junior researchers is essential when
disseminating research. That is why Sigma Xi offers two options: the
travel award and the grant-in-aid of research.
Travel awards are available to support all students enrolled at Rush
University and to postdoctoral fellows and medical residents with
appointments at Rush to attend professional conferences.
To qualify for the award, which is based on scientific merit and need,
the applicant must present their research at a conference or symposium.
The Sigma Xi Review Committee will recommend the best scientific
abstracts submitted to the Chapter and travel awards for $200 or
greater will be presented.
These travel awards are conferred twice a year. Deadlines for
applications are June 30 and December 31 for applicants accepted to
conferences happening within the first and second semesters of the
year, respectively.
All applications must be in by these dates. This program is supported
by the Rush Office of Research Affairs. The application form is
available at the Chapter website: www.rushu.rush.edu/Sigma-Xi.
The award winners for the Fall 2011 semester were:
Robert Benzl - Rush Medical College, M2
Sharanya Kousik - Graduate College,
Dept. of Pharmacology
John B Lough - Rush Medical College,
Dept. of
Pharmacology
Wes Wayman - Rush Medical College, M3
Congratulations! Sigma Xi encourages young researchers to continue with
their efforts
