A poster session highlighting graduate student research and creative activity will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Nebraska Union Centennial Room (2nd floor) as part of the 2008 UNL Research Fair. The purpose of the session is to give students the chance to showcase their research or creative activity, to communicate their results to others and to learn about other areas of research and creative activity.

Posters, displays, performances and presentations will be judged by the Nebraska Chapter of Sigma Xi in the following scientific areas:

  • Biological Sciences and Agricultural Sciences
  • Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics
  • Physical Sciences and Materials Sciences
  • Social Sciences
Students will receive personal feedback from a faculty member in their research category. One student author from each poster area (listed above) will be an invited guest, with meal provided, at the Annual Sigma Xi Awards Banquet to be held in April.

Entries should be based on research or creative activity in which the graduate student has been significantly involved during the past year. Standards for entries are expected to be at the level that is common at national meetings in each of the disciplines. Student authors must be present at their posters from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and posters must be put up between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 2.
