Sigma Xi Chapter Cited for ExcellenceThe UNL Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific honorary society, has received a Certificate of Excellence from the national Sigma Xi organization at its annual meeting, held in Montreal, Quebec during 11-14 November 2004. The UNL chapter was one of only eight (out of the 516 chapters worldwide) to receive a Certificate of Excellence. It was cited for "outstanding chapter performance for the year ending June 30, 2004" as exhibited by its joint sponsorship of a graduate student research poster competition, with over 90 students presenting their research; its initiation of a new series of public lectures on science and science policy issues; and its program of research travel awards to graduate students who present their research at major scientific meetings.
