Tampa Bay Chapter of Sigma Xi Membership InformationThe award winning Tampa Bay Chapter of Sigma Xi is continuing the process of revitalizing after having been inactive for 5 years prior to 2003. We now have new officers from several institutions and plans for a very active Chapter. Every member counts, and we value your help!
There are many faculty, graduate student, post-doctoral, and industrial/governmental researchers in the Tampa Bay area that need to be recognized through an invitation to join Sigma Xi. Only active (i.e., paid up members), full members of Sigma Xi may nominate others to membership (sorry, associate members do not qualify as nominators).
The membership dues (national and local), including Spring initiation banquet fees are as follows:
- Full & Associate Membership - $99
- Student (full time) Membership - $50
- Promoted Active Assoc. Member (to Full Member) - $45
- Promoted Inactive Assoc. Member (to Full Member) - $99
All candidates should show a demonstrated ability to accomplish meaningful research activities. Graduate students (primarily Ph.D. candidates) must have shown the ability to do research and publish their results. All nominations should be accompanied by a brief resume indicating the candidates research accomplishments, and graduate students nominations are to include a letter from their major professor indicating their potential for conducting research.
