Virginia Outstanding Secondary Math or Science Teacher Award

Nominations due: March 5th, 2012.

Sigma Xi is a national society dedicated to promoting research in the sciences and mathematics. The Virginia Tech Chapter, established in 1940, has long presented an annual award to an outstanding math or science teacher in a Virginia middle or high school. This award is part of Sigma Xi's national program and is intended to recognize career-long commitments to providing meaningful learning experiences for students. The selected teacher receives an engraved plaque and $500 cash award presented at our annual initiation and awards banquet in Blacksburg, usually held in April. In addition, $500 is donated to the teacher's school in support of math and science programs. The honoree and the principal of the school will be given complementary banquet tickets to receive the award.

To electronically nominate a deserving teacher by the posted deadline, please go to the following link "https://survey.vt.edu/survey/entry.jsp?id=1196373381797" and complete the nomination. For more information, contact a chapter officer.
