Pikes Peak Chapter Nominations to Sigma Xi Membership
To nominate deserving students for membership in Sigma Xi, the science honorary society, act early to assure that membership certificates will be ready before the end of the school year. Please note that you do not need to be a member of Sigma Xi in order to nominate students. However, if you are interested in joining this honor society as a full member, please contact one of the chapter officers.
Membership is by invitation. Students who have shown potential as researchers are invited to join as associate members, while full membership may be conferred upon scientists who have demonstrated noteworthy achievements in research. Note that students are not required to plan a career in science to be eligible. You can learn more about Sigma Xi at the home
page of the organization.
To nominate a student for membership, please send the following information to an officer of the Pikes Peak Chapter of Sigma Xi. The president will contact nominated students to invite them to join Sigma Xi. Students will be advised that the cost of student dues (including one-time initiation fees of $10) is $35. Students with financial need (those students on financial aid) are eligible for a subsidized membership fee, but will still have to pay the initiation
fee of $10.
Faculty are also invited to nominate themselves or other faculty for full membership. Professional dues are $67, including a one-time initiation fee of $10. Membership includes a subscription to American Scientist magazine.
If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact any of the chapter officers.
