Chapter Dinner Meeting - June 30, 1998
The June 30th Dinner Meeting was held at the Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center. After re-establishing old acquaintenances and forming new friendships during the social hour, the Chapter's new members were inducted. Chapter president, Frank Schaefer, III presented Sigma Xi membership certificates to Jeffrey Hester, Christina Newport, and Jason Bennett. Two additional new members, Christopher Robinson and Sridhar Ramanathan, could not be present for their induction. All five of the new members have been engaged in research efforts with the EPA. Following the new member induction, former Chapter president, Eugene Rice, was formally recognized for his past service to the Chapter with the Sigma Xi Certificate of Appreciation.
A Thai Evening in Cincinnati........
The Thai theme of the evening was established with a buffet dinner catered by Thai Express (213 W. McMillan, Cinti) and that featured a menu of dishes selected by the Thai born wife of the speaker of the evening. After enjoying the varied selection of Thai foods, the members settled in to enjoy the evening's presentation:

An Overview of Malaria in Thailand

After sharing his personal experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, the speaker entertained a series of questions from the members concerning the malaria education program in which he took part. At the end of the presentation and questions, the Chapter president sincerely thanked Dr. Lindquist for his presentation and presented him with a Sigma Xi Certificate of Appreciation. The evening's program at an end, the Dinner Meeting was officially concluded.
