Dr. Mann-Salinas received a BS in Nursing from Emory University, an MS from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and her PhD in Nursing Research from the UT Health Sciences Center at Houston.

She is involved in a number of research projects at the Institute of Surgical Research, including: identification and management of sepsis in the burn intensive care unit patient; development of an evidence based practice precepting program for the Army Burn Center; and provides support for multiple research projects related to systems of care, communication in ICU, performance improvement initiatives, and clinically related research.
