Welcome to Alamo Chapter of Sigma Xi

The Charter for the Alamo Chapter was signed on June 6, 1977 as the 208th Chapter of Sigma Xi, The Research Society of North America. Five institutions (Southwest Research Institute, Trinity University, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, and University of Texas at San Antonio) were the founding institutions. The intent was to form a chapter which served the entire San Antonio scientific community.

From these modest beginnings the chapter has grown, and currently has 109 Active Members representing 11 scientific institutions including 5 universities, 4 R&D Companies, and 2 military R&D Institutions in the San Antonio, Texas area.

Quarterly meetings are currently sponsored by Trinity University for the general membership and is open to anyone with interest in the scientific society. Each meeting features a speaker with a current scientific topic of general interest as well as a short business meeting.
