Sigma Xi, University of Puerto Rico at San Juan was established in December, 1966 and officially recognized in October, 1967 as the "San Juan Metropolitan Area Sigma Xi Club" with a membership number of 508. A copy of the original charter is attached.

Chapter status was achieved in 19-- through the efforts of our first president, Sidney Kaye.

We celebrated the 20th anniversary of our founding in 1987 with an activity attended by original members.

Present were Zulma Sanchez, Leo Lathrum, Myrtha Rosas del Valle, Sidney Kaye and Julio Colon which can be seen in the attached photo (order left to right as listed above).

We have also attached photos (1) the club officers at this time which were Jose ("Kike") Arraras-Vice President, George Hillyer-President (and later Representative for the SE Region) and Alan Preston -Secretary/Treasurer
