Nomination to Membership in the LSU Chapter of Sigma XiA member of the LSU Chapter of Sigma Xi can nominate colleagues and students for membership, according to the process outlined below. If a potential member wishes to be nominated, and lacks a current member of Sigma Xi as his/her nominator, he/she may send his/her nomination form and supporting documents directly to the Admissions Committee (see below).
First, examine the Sigma Xi website, especially "Becoming a Member" found within the "Member Services" category along the menu bar above.
Then, the nominee should fill out a paper copy of the nomination form, available as a downloadable pdf file from within the "Becoming a Member" page of the "Member Services" category along the menu bar above.
Associate Membership is generally recommended for students who have demonstrated research promise through at least one first-authored publication or other written document.
Full Membership is usually reserved for post-docs and faculty members who have made contributions to research, especially as demonstrated by scholarly activites such as publishing papers.
If two members of Sigma Xi are unavailable to sign the nomination form, a nominee may send his/her nomination form directly to the LSU Admissions Committee with a request that members of the Executive Committee serve as first and second nominators.
Please also include a current Curriculum Vitae (CV) with the nomination form.
Forms and supporting documents (e.g., CVs) should be sent to the current Chair of the Admissions Committee at LSU, or any of the LSU Chapter Executive Officers.
If you wish to inquire about the nomination process to the LSU Chapter of Sigma Xi, please contact the current Chair of the Admissions Committee at LSU.
