Grants-in-AidThe Louisiana State University Chapter of the Scientific Research Society Sigma Xi, provides grant-in-aid awards to graduate and undergraduate students to assist them in the scientific research necessary for the completion of their degree.
Grants may be used for any purpose that supports the student's research effort, with the exception of publication costs. Field travel for data acquisition or travel to a laboratory where the student can learn a new research technique or perform an experiment that is not possible on the LSU campus can be supported.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants for the graduate-level awards can be either full-time or part-time graduate students in science or engineering who are in good standing with the LSU Graduate School and are making satisfactory progress toward their degree. Students in non-thesis Master's programs are not eligible.A student who has received a National Sigma Xi Grant-in-Aid or an LSU Chapter Grant-in-Aid award in the past is not eligible to receive one of these LSU Chapter awards. Applicants for the undergraduate award must be full-time students with a declared major and in good standing with their respective college.
