Please identify qualified colleagues and/or students within your department to be nominated for membership. Colleagues who are professionally active qualify for FULL membership as do students who will receive Ph.D. degree this year. Other students who have shown marked aptitude for scientific research should be nominated for ASSOCIATE membership; undergraduate candidates must have a grade point average of 3.4 or better. The nomination needs to be sponsored by a Sigma Xi member. However to expedite the nomination process, members of the executive committee will sign forms prepared by non-members. The fee for new members is $84.00 ($67.00 membership plus $15.00 initiation and $2.00 local chapter fee); for full-time students, the fee is $42.00. All students will qualify for the lower fee. Benefits include a paid subscription to the Society's very popular journal, AMERICAN SCIENTIST, as well as an opportunity to participate in all activities of the society and local chapter. New members will be initiated at the Awards Banquet to be held on April 30, 2007, at the UNM Conference Center.Election to Sigma Xi has been an early milestone in many distinguished careers. In Society's history, more than 200 members have gone on to become Nobel Laureates.
