USA Science & Engineering Festival
Sigma Xi is proud to be an official partner of the inaugural USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C., October 2010. A collaboration of more than 500 science and engineering organizations, the festival is designed to engage young people in the sciences. It will culminate with a two-day expo on the National Mall featuring hundreds of fun, hands-on activities. People are encouraged to hold satellite events in their communities.

Call for Monie Ferst Award Nominations
April 1 is the nomination deadline for the 2010 Monie A. Ferst Award, which honors science and engineering teachers who have inspired their students to significant research achievements. Sponsored by the Georgia Tech Chapter of Sigma Xi, the award consists of a medal and $5,000.
 
Conversations with the Executive Director
Listen to an online discussion in February between Sigma Xi members and Executive Director Jerry Baker about the spring membership appeal and membership retention. Recordings: 9:00 AM or 6:00 PM. You must register to access the recording. It’s free. Check back for dates, times and topic for the March conversation.
 
Sigma Xi Featured by National Education Report
Sigma Xi is being featured by the television series National Education Report for the Society's distinguished contributions to the advancement of education nationally and internationally. The short documentary will air on public and cable television stations in the U.S. and abroad and is also available online.

Grants-in-Aid of Research Deadline: March 15
Grants of up to $1,000 are available to undergraduate and graduate students in all areas of the sciences and engineering. Designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants of up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision related research.
 
2010 Sigma Xi Awards Honor Leading Scientists
Each year Sigma Xi presents a number of prestigious awards that honor outstanding researchers and communicators. They include the William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement, John P. McGovern Science & Society Award, Walston Chubb Award for Innovation and the Young Investigator Award.
