Candidate's Statement: His goals as candidate include finding people who can keep science independent of outside pressures, as well as 1) avoiding falling over the cliff into nuclear war, 2) more support of space exploration, 3) more effort to controlling/preventing DNA-biology gone wild, and 4) more study of military/political/mankind control of weather.

Biographical Information: Dennis Collins is retired after over 27 years as math instructor/professor at University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, spending part of the year in the Midwest as well as Puerto Rico at present. Since 2000 he has served as Treasurer of Chapter #511 Mayaguez except for 2003 as Chapter President, with the Chapter winning two Diversity Awards during these years. He has a Ph.D. in math (1975) and MS (1970) from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois and BA (1966) from Valparaiso University, Indiana. Candidate's Statement: I have been a member of Sigma Xi for many years and would like to serve as a member of the nominations committee to offer an active contribution to the organization. My academic background is in biological and forensic anthropology, and biostatistics. I currently work in cancer and chronic disease epidemiology, and will bring a broadly interdisciplinary view to committee discussions.

Biographical Information: Dr. David G. McBride earned his doctorate in biological anthropology, emphasizing biostatistics and informatics, from the University of Missouri—Columbia. He is currently a research analyst with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Office of Epidemiology, working in cancer and chronic disease epidemiology and health informatics. Dr. McBride has recently co-authored studies of program effectiveness for heart disease and stroke prevention interventions and has also published papers on topics as diverse as inter-rater agreement and the archaeology of Mississippian burial mounds in Cahokia, near East St. Louis. Dr. McBride has been an abstract reviewer for the North American Congress of Epidemiology, and is a volunteer member of Statistics Without Borders. He is a member of the American Statistical Association and the American Anthropological Association, in addition to Sigma Xi. In his spare time he is an amateur musician (tuba and electric bass), and enjoys traveling with his wife, two sons, daughter, and two large canine children.

Candidate's Statement: Sigma Xi has an outstanding reputation as the interface between the scientific community and society. The Sigma Xi recognizes achievement of scientists and high school students. The other important role of Sigma Xi is to support the membership and strengthen the chapter activities by promoting new programs. If elected to Sigma Xi's Committee on nominations I would ensure to choose the right person for both President and Treasurer of Sigma Xi with diverse academic and research background.

Biographical Information: Dr. Pandey currently works as a Research Associate in Materials Science and Technology Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), USA. He holds Ph.D. (2010), M.S (2005) and B.S. (2003) degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mining Engineering from University of Maryland, University of Arizona and IIT (BHU), INDIA, respectively. Before coming to ORNL in 2011, he was a Postdoctoral fellow at The Johns Hopkins University. His current mission at ORNL is to deliver scientific discoveries and technical breakthroughs that will accelerate the development of solutions in the area of clean energy and global security. In the past, Dr. Pandey served as one of the Board of Directors of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Baltimore and received the ASME "outstanding recognition" for promoting engineering education among high school students. Currently, he is an active member of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's (TMS) Young Leaders Committee (YLC). The primary objective of YLC is to increase the awareness of material science and engineering among the undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Pandey has published or presented over 40 professional papers and he is the co-editor of four books.
