Additional Comments: I favour an internationally active and aware Sigma Xi. But, at the Regional level, our strengths are our chapters, and we must foster those. In the Northeast (and perhaps elsewhere), thought and concerns voiced at Chapter and Regional levels are more in keeping with Sigma Xi’s broad multidisciplinary scientific mandate than are many of the activities undertaken at the Societal level. My program is to turn this around by giving voice to Regional thought and activity. This alternately feels like herding cats or pushing strings, but I hope to continue doing it.
