Candidate's Statement: I have been active in Sigma Xi at the local and national level during the last five years. I have been the chapter president for the last three years. During this time I helped develop a new chapter award for "Outstanding Science Teaching" (at the secondary school), and a new "Faculty Research Award," both of which promote science and honor scientific achievement in Missouri. I have also served as a Southeast Representative to Committee on Nominations. If elected Associate Director, I will work with the current director to help to renew Sigma Xi activity in Missouri and the Southeast region. One goal I have is to promote increased student participation to the Sigma Xi local and national meetings. A second goal is to work to develop an annual regional Sigma Xi meeting that draws together members from most of the eight chapters in Missouri, and perhaps surrounding states that will highlight excellence and achievement in science and engineering in the Southeast region on an ongoing basis.
