A Burger, a Beer, and a Side of Science...
Science Cafés are a proven way to engage adult audiences. Often held in local restaurants and pubs, they provide a comfortable place to speak with a scientist about cutting-edge research. Join us for a lively discussion of strategies for bringing current science directly to the general public.
Real world examples from experienced Café organizers will provide an overview of how to get involved with or start a Science Café. Participants will learn about the impacts that can be expected from a Science Café, and will find out about free outreach resources for getting started.
This session will inspire participants to consider how they can provide an opportunity for scientists to discuss their work openly with public audiences. Time will be provided for participants to discuss how the Science Café format might be adapted for their specific situation.
