Student Research Presentation Opportunities with Sigma Xi


In 2013, Sigma Xi will offer opportunities for outstanding high school, undergraduate and graduate students to share their research through both traditional poster presentations and virtual multimedia presentations.

Presentations will be evaluated by career researchers to provide invaluable feedback for students. Awards will be presented for outstanding research.

A competition for virtual research presentations

The Student Research Showcase Features:

  • Student research presentations to be evaluated by leading career scientists
  • Awards presented for outstanding research presentations
  • Educational material on how share research through virtual platforms and to varied audiences (critical skills for research scientists in the new millennium)
  • High reward for low cost (modest registration fee and no need to travel)
  • Open to high school, undergraduate and graduate students
    • Sigma Xi membership not required to present
    • Preliminary abstract submission required for approval to participate

November 8 & 9, 2013—Student Research Conference

Student poster competition hosted near the Sigma Xi Center in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

This event features:
  • Student research presentations to be evaluated by leading career scientists
  • Awards presented for outstanding research presentations
  • Talks by award winning scientist
  • Networking with graduate school recruiters, potential employers and internships
  • Educational sessions on research, grant writing and science communication
  • Tours of local research facilities
  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students
    • Sigma Xi membership not required to present
    • Preliminary abstract submission required for approval to participate
