Sigma Xi Ambassador Program

Purpose: To sponsor an extra day for a Sigma Xi member who is traveling to a developing country so that he/she can promote Sigma Xi and the Packard International Science Networking Initiative.

Mechanism: The member should complete this online form to be added to a database of possible Ambassadors. Those signed up will be contacted quarterly to solicit their plans for upcoming travel to a developing country. Sigma Xi uses the term "developing country" as defined by the World Bank, including what are categorized as low-income, lower-middle income and upper-middle income economies. If the location and timing is found to be appropriate for the Packard Initiative, Sigma Xi will notify the member of their selection as a Sigma Xi Ambassador and will agree to reimburse up to $500 for the extra day's expenses (including hosting a reception, etc.) after the completed Ambassador Questionnaire and List of Contacts Made have been received by Sigma Xi's administrative offices.
