Statement
I joined Sigma Xi because I share its vision! As an individual, I am deeply passionate about engagement in Science, raising awareness about Science and issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Sciences. I firmly believe that as the Associate Director of the North Central Region, I will be able to contribute to these areas by supporting the regional Chapters. This is also another opportunity for me to acknowledge and serve the organization that has supported my efforts so far in my Chapter and community.
I have been a member of Sigma Xi since 2015 and since then I have served as the Vice President and Secretary of the Rockford University Chapter. During these five years, I was instrumental in increasing membership in my Chapter, bringing the Chapter back to good standing, and building programs (Distinguished Lectureship, Outreach activities, and Diversity initiatives) and securing funding for them. At the national level, I have served in various capacities as a member of the Planning Committee of the 2019 Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference and currently review membership-at-large applications.
