In this interview recorded March 20, 2020, science communicator Brian Malow (@sciencecomedian) asks food safety expert Dr. Benjamin Chapman about the effects of heating and freezing food on viruses and other food-borne pathogens. Chapman also recommends using hand sanitizers as well as disinfectants that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists as being effective against coronaviruses. He is a professor of food safety and a food safety extension specialist at North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and co-hosts a bi-weekly podcast called "Food Safety Talk" and another called "Risky or Not?"
