Statement
Sigma Xi has played a large role in my professional development over the years. I joined as a graduate student and I received my first two research grants from Sigma Xi! As a member of Sigma Xi, it is essential to keep the interdisciplinary spirit of Sigma Xi alive, and to promote desire of learning beyond the narrow scope of our disciplines. I also feel committed to Sigma Xi as it continues to play an active national role in ethics and science communication training. Over the years, I have worked very hard at our campus to help grow our chapter by nominating new faculty. Importantly, I have been active to promote the next generation of scientists, by nominating many undergraduate and graduate students and encouraging them to apply to GIAR and attend the annual Sigma Xi national conference. If elected to the Committee on Nominations, I will use my experience to help select Sigma Xi leaders who will promote the mission and goals of the Society, on our campuses and in the community at large, to enhance membership and continue to move Sigma Xi forward as a leader in scientific research and honor.
