Statement

I have been a member of Sigma Xi since I was in graduate school. It is an honor to be in the company of so many prolific scientists and practitioners of science. I was the general secretary of the Arlington, Texas chapter for three years. We strived hard in many directions. A lot still needs to be done.

I am an active researcher. I have received many extramural grants in nanotechnology and nanomedicine. I have received international recognition as can be seen from several keynotes and invited talks. I bring years of leadership experience. I thoroughly know how various stakeholders work together in academic, research, and translational environments.

There are many potential avenues of growth for Sigma Xi especially by highlighting innovation and promoting education excellence. I see room to define specific paths to engage more students and faculty in Sigma Xi activities in the region. My vision is to bring Sigma Xi to the forefront through collective decision making and dialog. We have to focus on increasing our membership, train our scientists for the job market by teaching them soft skills, and projecting the achievements of our members at national and international venues.
