Chapter award winners were announced at the 120th Assembly of Delegates.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—The 2018–2019 Sigma Xi chapter award winners were announced at the 120th Assembly of Delegates on November 14 in Madison, Wisconsin. Finalists are chosen by regional and constituency directors based on information in the chapters’ annual reports and the winners are selected by the Committee on Qualifications and Membership. 

Chapter of Excellence Award Winners

Chapter of Excellence Awards are bestowed on chapters for exceptional chapter activity, innovative programming, and true community leadership.

Chapter Program of Excellence Award Winners

Chapter Program of Excellence Awards are bestowed on chapters that organized and/or hosted a single outstanding program.

Columbia-Willamette for their visiting lecturer program and wine tasting event to support a student travel fund

Second Place

Georgia Institute of Technology for hosting the Sigma Xi Monie A. Ferst Award Symposium in honor of 2018 recipient Carol A. Fierke

Third Place

Brown University for the Brown University/Tougaloo College/Bryant University joint induction ceremony

Fourth Place (tie)

  • Rice University-Texas Medical Center for their biomaterials lab tour to engage high school students
  • Woods Hole for mentoring junior high school students for science fair projects
