The Sigma Xi community came together for Giving Tuesday Now on May 5 to support a special campaign: Know the Virus, Defeat the Virus. Together, we met and exceeded our $10,000 fundraising goal! As of the morning of May 7, we raised $10,102! These funds will be used to help 10 teams of scientists and creators join together through our #SciCommMake virtual collaboration platform, which will convene in late-May in partnership with Science Talk.

The projects created by the teams receiving awards funded through #SciCommMake will focus on innovative approaches to disseminating evidence-based messages about COVID-19. The projects will be primarily designed to reach non-traditional scientific audiences, counteract misinformation, and help defeat this virus. We look forward to sharing updates and impacts from these projects with you during the second half of 2020.
