2026 John P. McGovern Science and Society Award
Dr. Camille Ragin is a cancer disparities researcher whose work extends beyond scientific discovery to the communication and societal application of cancer research. She is the founder of the African Caribbean Cancer Consortium (AC3), an international initiative that supports cancer research, public engagement, and global collaboration across the African diaspora. Her work includes community-based cancer education programs, public lectures, media engagement, and culturally tailored outreach that translate complex scientific concepts into accessible information for diverse audiences. In addition to leading research on cancer risk, genomics, and health disparities, she has developed community-engaged studies in Philadelphia and contributed to training programs for researchers and clinicians. Her efforts integrate research, science communication, and community partnership to advance public understanding of cancer and its prevention.
