Sigma Xi Awards Student Research Grants for Spring 2021 Cycle

GAIR_noHyphens_1200RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NORTH CAROLINA – Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society is pleased to announce the awarding of 112 student research grants for the spring 2021 cycle of its Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR) program. Since 1922, the Society’s GIAR program has been funding research for undergraduate and graduate students, and currently awards grants biannually in the fall and spring.

This year’s Committee on Grants in Aid of Research, along with a panel of guest reviewers, evaluated 774 applications across most research disciplines. Chaired by Peter J. Harries of North Carolina State University, the committee awarded grants to 21 undergraduate students, 28 master’s students, and 63 doctoral students. Grant amounts ranged from $400–$5000 and a total of $113,673 was awarded.
