We are excited to announce that three of this year's 16 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom are Sigma Xi Members.

Each year thousands of secondary students are recognized for the quality of their investigations by numerous philanthropic organizations and private foundations, as well as at regional science fairs and competitions. Yet at present, limited national, let alone international, publication opportunities exist to gather and publish the best original research of secondary students in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) areas.

The final round of competition for the 2012–2013 Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge took place over the weekend of April 10–13 at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston.

At this year's Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona, Executive Director Dr. Jerry Baker presented several Sigma Xi awards for students and projects whose work best represented interdisciplinary research.

This April, Sigma Xi members were among the 84 new members and 21 foreign associates elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in recognition of their distinguished achievements in original research.

Twenty-two Sigma Xi members were among the 69 new members and 11 foreign associates elected in February to the National Academy of Engineering.
